Job Overview: We are seeking an energetic and driven Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our team and champion a culture of safety and environmental excellence. This role focuses on continuous improvement, proactive safety strategies, and fostering a "zero harm workplace" in our non-union, industrial manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be an engaging and credible leader who can influence safety culture, drive change, and work collaboratively with a team dedicated to safety and environmental performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Support and promote safe practices in alignment with company policies, federal regulations, and environmental standards.
Act as a resource for OSHA and EPA compliance while ensuring adherence to safety and environmental laws.
Lead or participate in incident investigations, root cause analyses, and development of corrective and preventive actions.
Conduct risk and hazard assessments and implement strategies to mitigate risks.
Develop and oversee safety action plans, coordinate plant safety committees, and ensure follow-up on safety initiatives.
Provide training to all plant personnel on safety, health, and environmental topics.
Manage compliance documentation, including OSHA 300 logs, inspection records, and work notifications.
Drive continuous improvement in environmental monitoring and waste management, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Oversee proper management of industrial process wastewaters, solid waste, and hazardous materials.
Collaborate with corporate EHS teams on permitting, abatement strategies, and plant improvement projects.
Act as a training coordinator for EHS-related training programs, ensuring accessibility and adherence to best practices.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health, Environmental, or a related field.
Seven (7) or more years of EHS experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
Experience as an EHS site leader or recognized Subject Matter Expert in a specific EHS discipline.
Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, OHST, SMS, or equivalent.
Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and data analysis tools.
Exceptional communication, training, and organizational skills.
Preferred:
Hands-on experience in industrial safety, environmental monitoring, and waste management.
Demonstrated ability to influence teams, foster collaboration, and drive cultural change.
Root cause analysis skills (e.g., RCCA, 5-Whys) and experience in Lean methodologies (Kaizen, 5S).
